Hi, my name is April Connors, and I am the adoptive mom to Darline, who arrived home from Crèche Enfant de l’Jèsus located in the small village of Ti Mache, east of Port au Prince, Haiti in May of 2009.
I am currenlty the person organizing all of the donation programs for the Creche. I work directly with the staff in Haiti to create supply lists for traveling families each month.
As food prices in Haiti continue to escalate we rely heavily on items that are brought by traveling families and visitors.
The purpose of this blog is to provide the current items that are needed to travel within the next 30-90 days to the creche. We are hopeful that this blog will allow people who are friends and family members of families adopting from the Creche a place to participate in filling traveling families bags.
Thank you so much for considering our donation program.
Donation Receipts
If your are purchasing a supplies for traveling families we encourage you to scan and send your receipts to me along with your contact information, I will then forward your email on to Chances for Children so that they can provide you with a donation receipt.
About Chances for Children
Chances for Children provides the financial and strategic support for an existing orphanage in Haiti. This orphanage (or crèche as they are called in Haiti) is named Crèche de l'Enfant Jèsus and is located in the small village of Ti Mache, just east of Port au Prince.
The crèche was built in 2003 by hundreds of volunteers from the U.S, Canada and Haiti. The result of their efforts was a beautiful 14,000 square foot facility that is currently home to over 60 children. The facility also has a volunteer/guest wing, an on-site English speaking pre-school and a clinic for our fulltime nurses and part time pediatrician.
For the past 3 years, Creche de l'Enfant Jesus (CEJ) has been caring for orphaned children and preparing them for their future lives with their new families. While Chances for Children is a newly formed 501(c)(3) organization, we can ensure immediate results, because we have partnered with a team in Haiti who have been active in the local community for years. The management team of CEJ has a successful history with a proven track record and they understand the complicated Haitian adoption process.
