Hi, my name is April Connors, and I am the adoptive mom to Darline, who arrived home from a Crèche located in the small village of Ti Mache, east of Port au Prince, Haiti in May of 2009.

Since the 2010 earthquake, food prices in Haiti continue to escalate, the creche supported by Chances for children rely heavily on items that are brought by volunteers and contributors like you.

The purpose of this blog is to provide volunteers and contributors with the current items that are needed to travel within the next 30-90 days to the creche.

Chances for Children provides the financial and strategic support for existing orphanages and schools in Haiti. We currently support two orphanages (or crèches as they are called in Haiti). The first creche is located in the coastal city of Les Cayes and the second is located in the Delmas75 district of Port au Prince. We also support schools in Haiti and provide donations of food and supplies to many small Haitian orphanages. In 2011 we will expand our outreach by adding additional schools, vocational training and medical clinics.

The primary mission of Chances for Children is to improve the lives of children in Haiti. For some children this can be done through our adoption centers where we provide orphaned children with a safe and sane sanctuary, and return them to health. For other children, we believe that education is their only path to a future filled with hope.
